Our Preferred Wedding Vendors Near Raleigh (And Why We Keep the List Short)

Almost every wedding venue has a preferred vendor list. What those lists actually mean varies quite a bit. Some venues have deep relationships built over years of working together and can genuinely vouch for every name on the list. Others have a list that is more accurately described as a paid directory. Couples deserve to know the difference.

What We Mean by Preferred

At Scarborough House, when we recommend a vendor it is because someone on our team has seen them work on this property and trusts them to do right by our couples. That is a short list by definition. We have not worked with every photographer in eastern North Carolina, so we do not pretend to recommend every photographer in eastern North Carolina.

Our preferred vendors know the property. They know where the light is best in the afternoon, which entrance works for load-in without disrupting guests, and how our timeline typically runs. That familiarity translates into less friction on the day itself.

Vendor Freedom

We do not lock couples into using our preferred vendors. You are welcome to bring your own caterer, your own photographer, your own florist, your own DJ. The only requirements are standard ones: general liability insurance and compliance with our venue agreement. Beyond that, the vendor team is yours to build.

Some couples come with their photographer already chosen before they book the venue. Some couples rely heavily on our suggestions. Most land somewhere in between, using our recommendations for one or two vendor categories while bringing their own choices for others.

Categories Where Recommendations Matter Most

Catering is the category where our recommendations tend to be most useful. Eastern NC barbecue catering is its own category, and the vendors who do it well in this region are not necessarily the ones that come up in a Google search from Raleigh. We have seen enough catering setups at Scarborough House to have genuine opinions about who executes well on a property like ours.

Photography is the category where we are most likely to defer to your existing relationships. If you have a photographer you already love, bring them. We are not going to steer you toward someone you have less connection with.
